Why not make some fun and healthy desserts for those BBQs, or…just because!? Here are some healthy desserts you can feel comfortable sharing with anyone. Super yum and super fun!
The words “healthy” and “dessert” are not always paired together. But Summertime is the PERFECT time to take advantage of all the season has to offer, especially in the dessert category!
The words “healthy” and “dessert” are not always paired together. Here are some healthy desserts you can feel comfortable sharing with anyone this Summer!
Chocolate-Covered Bananas
They’re a classic for a reason! The flavor combo of chocolate, banana, and peanuts is one of my all-time favorite summertime healthy desserts. Cut a banana in half and put each half onto a popsicle stick.
Freeze the banana halves until solid (a couple of hours), dip in melted chocolate chips, then roll in crushed peanuts. (or sprinkles, or crushed candies…or…?) Refreeze for up to two weeks. So yum!
Fruit Salad: Frozen!
Take your Summer faves: watermelon, blueberries, grapes, and strawberries, combine and freeze! Serve with a dollop of fresh whipped cream and a sprinkle of homemade granola. Refreshing, sweet, and super easy to pull together!
Healthier Apple Crisp
A Summertime classic, apple crisp is delicious, although not always healthy, dessert. It is perfect for those summer BBQs and potlucks, right? Make a healthier version with homemade granola for the topping, sweeten with agave, honey, or organic brown sugar.
Swap out the butter for coconut oil. Serve it up alone or with low-fat vanilla frozen yogurt. Summer love.
Frozen Yogurt Pops
In my opinion, every day is a great day to eat frozen yogurt! Keep kids and adults happy with this clever fro-yo healthy dessert hack: simply freeze individual flavored yogurt cups.
Either eat it by scraping, a la Italian ice, or stick a wooden popsicle stick through the foil before freezing, and once frozen, remove it from its cup for an easy fro-yo pop! Yummmm.
No Guilt Banana “Ice Cream“
Honestly, this is the coolest thing ever! (No pun intended!) So many of us keep ripe frozen bananas on hand to bake into banana bread or lend creaminess to a smoothie. But if you haven’t tried turning them into “ice cream,” you’re missing out.
Just put them in a blender, and they’ll magically transform into a creamy, indulgent-tasting treat that you can enjoy with zero guilt. Serve with fun toppings like waffle cone pieces, mini chocolate chips, berries, granola, and sprinkles.
