You’re at work. You catch a glimpse of your untouched “How To Lose Weight Fast” magazine, then check the time, and ask yourself, “It’s already two o’clock?”. Next, you look at your newly-bought NIKE water bottle; it’s maybe two sips emptier than when you left with it this morning. After doing some poorly-done math in your head, you’ve come to the realization it’s close to impossible to hit your water goal to lose weight. We know what happened next… you gave up.
What’s your daily water goal? Learn how to get it, and then stay hydrated and lose weight by drinking the right amount of water (for you!) EVERY day!
NOT ON OUR WATCH!
You will never miss your daily water goal again and WILL lose weight after implementing these three doable steps. “Doable” is our key word here for losing weight. We know you’re constantly distracted by deadlines, momming all day long, your recently enforced Atkins diet or- ya know-life; drinking enough water to keep you healthy and glowing might seem unreachable. We are here to show you how realistic hitting your hydration goal can be and how it is one of the best ways to lose weight. However, before we can brainwash you into drinking more water, let us start by calculating how much water you, personally, need to drink every day to lose weight– Here.
Set Reminders Everywhere!
Some of us are so busy, we’d forget to sleep if our body didn’t so obviously remind us to do it. Well, busy bees, here’s a few of our favorite reminders to drink heaps of H2O!
For the techies out there, we have two really great suggestions to remind you to drink! Daily Water- Drink Reminder is an incredible app to set yourself reminders and track how much you’re drinking in a day. This impressive app has many customizable features and can even be set up with your Apple Watch!
Now, if you’re thinking you might need something more seamless than that, you might like our second option. Hydrate Spark is a smart bottle that simultaneously tracks your water intake as you drink- really reducing the amount of calculating and the “hard labor” that comes with reaching your water goal. (The bottle comes in six super cute colors too!)
Ok, now for our DIY ladies, we have a great guzzling tip for you too! After buying (and finishing) a gallon of water, use your favorite paint marker to mark off how far down the gallon you should have drank by a specific time of the day. You can check out a cutely decorated gallon jug- here! What a simple way to ensure you are meeting your hydration goal throughout the day. We recommend writing motivational or funny phrases on your bottle to really make it happen! Remind yourself why you want this and how happy you will be when you’ve met your water goal and start to lose weight! This is a really fun and educational activity to do with the kids, as well; make a bet who can drink the most water or come up with the wittiest phrase on their bottle.
Stick to Your Alternatives
Now, that we have you convinced (hopefully) that remembering to drink enough is an awe-inspiring weight loss tip, let’s talk about keeping the spark alive. The simple glass of water can get boring at times, so here’s a few tips for maintaining your water goal every day, without boring yourself into abandonment.
Dipping your favorite herbal tea bags in a pitcher of water is an effortless way to spice up the usual tall glass of H2O. Green tea is one of our best-kept secrets to healthy eating. This fat-burning liquid not only increases your metabolism but also hydrates the skin. Sparking and mineral water are so also great alternatives to regular H2O. Cutting up a couple of lemons and throwing them into your water is an easy way to get some extra ounces in for the day, for you and for the little ones.
Don’t forget about the water you can eat- and we aren’t talking about crunching on ice cubes. Cucumbers, zucchini, watermelon and grapefruit are all over 90% water. For your next book club meeting with the girls, ditch the casserole and make a cucumber salsa. Get a yummy cucumber salsa recipe- here!.
Start New Habits
Here at NewStart we are all about helping you change your mindset. Starting new, healthy habits will only lead to changing your current mentality to a losing weight attitude. If you’re craving for a coffee in the morning, drink a glass while its brewing. Does gulping down water leave you feeling bloated? Sip through a straw to force yourself to drink slower and ultimately more. Refill your glass as soon as you finish- an empty glass is more likely to remain empty. Buy a cute pitcher to leave on the counter. Leaving water that’s in arms reach will easily make healthy hydration a new habit.
